Alabama State Song (Instrumental) Alabama [song]

Alabama is nicknamed the Yellowhammer State, after the state bird. Alabama is also known as the "Heart of Dixie" and the "Cotton State". "Alabama" was written as a poem by Julia Tutwiler in 1868 or 1869, during reconstruction and just after her return from Germany. In 1917, Edna Gockel-Gussen of Birmingham, Alabama won the competition for her composition setting Julia Tutwiler's poem to music. It was adopted as the state song of Alabama in 1931. #alabamastateanthem #songofalabama #alstatesong
