Learning Like with many strokes my core principle elbow behind the force is essential to creating a solid low brace. The similar principle allies as with the low recovery. The only difference is that you may not want a completely flat blade and so the elbow position should change when you change the blade angle. It is common to see the wrist used to change the blade angle which does enable you to create support but if you needed to put your whole weight on it you would find it hard. Exercise It's a good idea to use a paddling partner while you sit in your kayak on the beach to lift the blade up when you place the elbow in different positions. Then when you are out on the water to be conscious during your practice that you are getting into a position where your elbow is behind the force. Move on... When you can get into a strong position with your elbow behind the force.
