Kedah was called Kadaram (Tamil: கடாரம்; kadāram) by ancient and medieval Tamil people, Kataha/Kalahbar (Arab:قتح/قلحبر) and Syburi (Thai: ไทรบุรี; RTGS: Sai Buri) by the Siamese when it was under their influence.
