Transient & Eerie - Listening to the Winds of Arrakis at night Soma Lyra-8 Quantum Ocean soundscape
This is a one-shot seance using the Soma Lyra-8 with the Soma Quantum Ocean plugged-in. You can see everything I do, there is no other artefact except my software masterchain in Ableton Live. You can listen to this while reading night scenes from Frank Herbert's Dune novel. I strongly despise the 2021 version of the Dune movie, despite excellent sound department artwork and awesome music by Hans Zimmer. Why? Bad actors, and lame dialogues, the worst part of which is when the desert girl tells the main character "They think you're the Mahdi, but you're just a boy" - a direct reference to the Islam's Mahdi, who is in essence the Antechrist's sidekick from Revelation XIII. I was already bored watching the movie in the theatre earlier this year, but when I heard that, I totally snapped out of it. While I know Dune's Fremen people have vague references to Arabic people and that's cool, a direct reference to Islamic Prophecy is an insult to anyone who keeps track on who the Mahdi really is when you read the Bible. How could the script managers let this through, except by sheer ignorance? Anyway, a billion dollars won't save you from a bad script, bad actors, and a bad scriptwriter. If you want to watch Dune, play safe and watch David Lynch's version, or just read the novel, especially if you haven't yet. There was also a mini-series about Dune who wasn't that bad, but I forgot who filmed it. Hans Zimmer basically scored the film directly from the book anyways! This is a soundscape, which means it doesn't have much music but can be listened as an ambient background while you're busy doing something else, including meditation, napping, sleep or whatever.
