DayZ Standalone Gameplay FX 8350 GTX 760 Maxed Out/Ultra Settings 1080p

FPS Meter in top left. Alright so even though I've already done some performance videos on the DayZ Standalone, I decided to make one that actually shows how the game runs on maxed out full ultra settings. Simply put, it runs okay. In open fields as you can see in the video my average fps is somewhere in the mid 30s to the mid 40s, and in virtually all open fields on the map it stays in that range. In some open fields up North on the normal settings that I use I get 60+, so I suppose you might get 50 or so up there on full ultra settings. Next I tested how it would do in wooded areas. On maxed out settings my average fps in wooded areas was in the high 20s (probably 28 or 29). On my normal settings I average a high 30s fps in wooded areas. Lastly I tested how towns/cities would run. I don't know what town I go through in this video, I just used it because it was a good sized town and close to where I was. In this town my fps hangs around 20. A good average fps for large towns like this one would be 18, with some brief dips down to 15. In really big cities like Cherno and Elektro, fps would probably dip all the way down to 10 at times and stay around the 13-16 fps range. While this fps may seem terrible, and it is, keep in mind that nobody (unless you have an overclocked i7 4960x with a 780ti) plays DayZ on maxed out settings. The DayZ Standalone is so poorly optimized, even ridiculously good PCs rarely seem to average above 35 fps in big cities. On my normal settings which in my opinion make the game look nearly as good as it does completely maxed out, I get much better fps. In open fields 45-55 fps. In towns, 30-35 fps. In big cities 20-30 fps. Here are the normal settings that I use: Resolution: 1920x1080 Objects: Low (Causes noticeable frame drops) Terrain: High Clouds: High Shadows: Normal Anti-aliasing: Normal Alpha to Coverage: All trees + grass (Max) - ***This is what makes the game look pretty. In my previous DayZ Standalone videos I had this turned completely off because I thought that it affected fps. As it turns out, on my system at least, it doesn't affect fps at all. This effect gives much more detail trees, bushes, and grass, and makes the game look nearly as good as it does on true maxed out settings. Edge Smoothing: SMAA Very High -- This effect is sort of like anti-aliasing in that it smooths edges. I have this on the highest setting because on my system it doesn't affect fps at all. HDR Quality: Very Low -- I keep HDR Quality on Very Low because it drops my fps by 5-15 when I put in on low. Plus, it doesn't look any different from Very Low from what I can see. Ambient Occlusion: Disabled -- This effect decreases my fps by a few frames, and I don't see much of a difference when it is turned on. Post-process Quality: Low -- All this does is put a smoother look to grass and bushes and adds a noticeable motion blur. I don't like the motion blur, so I keep in on Low. On Very High, this setting drops my fps by 2-5 frames from what I've noticed. Video Memory: Auto -- I keep this on Auto to make sure that the game will use the maximum amount of video memory. Texture Detail: Very High - I keep this on Very High because it makes the game look fantastic and it doesn't affect fps for me at all. Texture Filtering: Very High -- Makes Textures look a little bit smoother and it doesn't affect fps for me at all. If you have my same hardware and are wondering what settings to use to achieve good fps and a great looking game, I highly recommend using these settings. Do not be discouraged by the low fps on maxed out settings. This is not an issue with the hardware, it is simply caused by the DayZ Standalone being a terribly optimized game. I've found that often times when looking at other Youtube videos claiming to have the game set to maxed out settings, the game is not truly maxed out and instead the settings are tweaked to probably similar ones to the settings that I have listed. Again, nobody (barely anybody) plays on truly maxed out settings in DayZ, because nobody (barely anybody) gets decent fps on max settings. DayZ is just one of those games in which you have to tweak the video settings in order to get the most enjoyable gaming experience no matter how good you may think your PC is. The FX 8350 is a spectacular CPU for the money, and overall I am very pleased with the way it performs in DayZ. I am particularly impressed with the way it performs in the DayZ Mod, as I get much better fps in the Mod than I do in the Standalone. All of my fps testing videos can be found in this playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2SkJdoI9ONnSdJvaNTU4j0BT2hoYVcXS My full system specs can be found in the "About" section on my channel page. Gameplay Recorded with Nvidia Shadowplay. FPS Meter provided by FRAPS. Please like, comment, and subscribe. It really helps me out in the start of my Youtube channel. Thanks for watching.
