Gyoubu Masataka Oniwa is a spear-wielding mounted warrior defending the Ashina Castle's gate. He was once the infamous leader of a group of bandits that was eventually defeated by Isshin Ashina. Isshin, impressed with Gyoubu's show of strength accepted him into his service. He would later become Genichiro's most trusted retainer. His horn-spear was famous, but it was broken during the rebellion. After that, Isshin Ashina praised it for its "splendid shape" and awarded Oniwa the cross-bladed spear of his formal rival General Shuzen Tamura.
