12-string Guitar: Ashes On The Sea (Including lyrics and chords)
I found this song on the Mudcat Cafe Facebook page. I have sung a few 'Utah Phillips' songs before, but had not come across this one. In his own introduction to the song, Phillips tells how somebody had written a song commemorating the death of Woody Guthrie and had erroneously said that he had been buried. This error was pointed out with the words: ones that loved him had strewn his ashes on the sea. Phillips took these words and wrote his own song tribute to Woody in a matter of hours and performed the song the same night on stage borrowing the tune from the song 'Lorena', one which I uploaded over a year ago. On looking for the chords for it, I could only discover one version on the internet and have made some adjustments in my own interpretation, and incidentally have corrected some of the lyrics.
