Level 1 Basics Training - Amatis Border Router

The Amatis Border Router, or AMBR for short, is used to connect the 6LoWireless mesh network to the internet. More specifically, the AMBR communicates securely with a cloud server, accessible from phone, tablet, or computer after logging in. It is through this internet connection that the system can be commissioned, that real time energy savings and space utilization data can be gathered for the building owner, and that the system can be supported remotely from anywhere in the world. Each AMBR hosts up to 100 devices within a single mesh network, and can be easily paired with other AMBRs in the building, allowing the system to operate as effectively in a small 10,000 sq ft installation as it does in a 500,000 sq ft installation. The AMBR has some additional capabilities as well. It is the only device with a direct connection to the internet, which means it is the only device which knows what time of day it is. For that reason, it is responsible for sending out scheduling messages based on time of day and switching the site’s programing from normal hours to after hours modes. Additionally, the AMBR is a BACnet point, allowing integration of the lighting control and data to the buildings automation system. We're on a mission to show how simple lighting controls can be.
