American Air car 1989
I built this when I was 15 which was about 18 years ago. I could make no progress with car companies on starting a working car prototype as I was a minor and had no degrees. Oh so many years later here.... I wanted to mention in reply to some valid and direct questions. PROPS to https://www.bimba.com/en/pneumatic/valves I obtained much of the needed parts from Bimba, and even in 88-89 They were freaking awesome! I never had any problems with my orders or requests, they even Custom made some pieces (like the Eye at the end of the shaft, which had a floating pivot bearing where it connected to the crank-shaft arm, they already had a design for, of different bore size and threads and such. That means they retooled probably at least 3 large machines for a SINGLE part, which was not very expensive. Also, A small family store called Shamrock bolt and screw in the 64802 area, the kind, and generous natured owners and staff made my endeavor possible, without the both purchased and gifted items my machine would never have been built. There was a 12th Street Muffler shop that gave me free and super cheap welding and It was top-notch work every time. Sadly I believe they are no longer in business. AND.. A full Bow to the spirit of a man named Terry Miller. (I never knew this following footage existed till moments ago) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lc1rcr2KKU Excellent Human! RIP friend. Without his guidance, I would never have finished the math, much less the Build. His tenacity with the businesses that donated time or materials and services to me, was inspirational. Also, I think the motor in the car he is talking about was from my build after I donated it to them (Pnumacomp?). I recall that he Fast talked the owner (was not upset) of that Sprint Or a Geo Metro they also modified, into the donation of ;) Terry buddy, I still want to puke thinking about your Catalpa Catfish bait. That stink bait was like crack to the fish and never failed to bring one in. (Teach a man to fish) But making it was about equal to cleaning septic tanks, haha Great times..
