Austria-Hungary, often referred to as the Austro-Hungarian Empire or the Dual Monarchy, was a constitutional monarchy and great power in Central Europe. It was formed with the Austro-Hungarian Compromise of 1867. "Gott erhalte, Gott beschütze" was the anthem of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It used the tune of "Gott erhalte Franz den Kaiser" which was a personal hymn for Emperor Francis II of the Holy Roman Empire and later of the Austrian Empire.
