Jerusalem 1869-2019 - the 14 stations of Jesus Christ then and now
This slide show presents paintings made in 1869 by Léon Van Mossevelde, a Belgian painter, who is the grand uncle of my grandfather, and also the nephew of Rosalie De Smet, the sister of the Missionary De Smet, who evangelised Amerindians. These paintings are put in parallel with photographs I took during my November 2019 visit in Jerusalem ; some viewpoints are approximative, but the best I could come up with at the time, given flow and space contraints. I was with a Palestinian guide, who helped me around until before entering the final church itself. I also did not actally enter the mausoleum within the church, but I present instead a photo from the "Evanlegical alternative" tombstone location right outside of the Old City, which's description better matches Scripture.
